Billund Airports Traffic First Half Year 2006

The total number of passengers the first six months of the year was 885,418 which equals a decline of 3.5 per cent compared to the first six months of 2005.

The domestic services went back by 21.1 per cent.
On the international services the decline was 2.5 per cent.
The number of passengers on charter flights went back by 1.4 per cent.

Air freight went up by 0.7 percent over the six months.

The statistics for June show a decline in the total number of passengers of 9.8 per cent.

The decline of cause is a result of the changes that occured with the shift from the winter to the summer timetable.

Apparently there is no decline in the demand for scheduled services from Billund, but the number of seats offered has been reduced relatively much.
At the same time the changes removed the basis for the feeder flights between Aalborg and Billund - much to the annoyance of many passengers from North Jutland.

We are pleased with the fact, that KLM adds a fourth frequency between Billund and Amsterdam with effect from the next Winter Timetable. Sterling Airlines fill most of the seats with its low ticket price concept on the routes to London, Paris, Malaga, Alicante, Nice, Mallorca, Rome and Athens. We are confident that this airline soon will establish new routes from Billund.

The demand on the new route to Roenne, The Island of Bornholm, has been so encouraging that Cimber Air has decided to extend the period of operation.

SUN-AIR reports a considerable growth on the routes to Helsinki and Birmingham and succes on its other routes. From August 28 SUN-AIR start a new daily service between Billund and Paris.

The charter traffic maintains its level from last year, which was a good year for the charter tourist travel agencies. The traffic has to some extend been influenced by the so called Muhammed Crises. But he high season ahead of us is expected to be a really good year again.

Hence we urge passengers to come to the airport in good time before departure during the busy period, which has just started.
