Billund Airport - the winter timetable in force

Billund Airport is happy that the winter timetable is now in force.

It means that there is a considerable increased capacity on the internal flights, especially the airports main route to Amsterdam.

During the summer this route has been largely sold out, a positive thing in itself, but at the same time it has meant problems for passengers who hac nor been able to book well in advance of the departure.

From now on there will be four daily departures, og which two will be with Boeing 737.

Cirrus/Lufthansa has increased the capacity on the Frankfurt route, and SUN-AIR now has two daily departures to Paris, enabling the business man to have a full day and effective day for meetings in Paris, and only being away one day.

Today Ryanair opens its Billund-Pisa route, and from the 7th of November the airline will be flying a route between Billund and Frankfurt Hahn. On the 22 November Ryanair will open yet antoher new route from Billund, this time to Madrid. Not long into the new year, on the 24th of January 2007 Ryanair will commence the service Billund-Dublin. On all four routes Ryanair will be using Boeing arcraft with 189 passenger seats.

The October charter traffic shows a considerable decline of 11,763 passengers less compared to October 2005. Especially lack of passengers to holiday places in Turkey, but also in Tunesia and Egypt are responsible for the decrease. The decline on the other hand should be seen on the background of an extraordinary high number of charter passengers in October 2004.

The progress within air cargo continued in October, especially the export show its positive side with an increase of nearly 27 per cent.

Billund Airport is ready to implement the new EU-security rules concerning hand luggage, which shall be enforeced form Monday the 6th of November. The airport has purchsed the necessary re-sealable one litre plastic bags in sufficient quantities for distribution among the passengers. The airport encourages all passengers to get aquinted with the new rules, which can be found on the airports web site www.bll.dk. The main thing for passengers must be: Place as much of your belongings in the luggage to be checked in as posible and leave as little to be carried in your hand luggage as possible!
