Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline today (28th February) announced their tenth route from Billund. The new route is to Edinburghand will start on the 24th of September and the route will be trafficked three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The new route will mean an additional 40 000 passengers through Billund, Denmark’s fastest growing airport bringing the total number of Ryanair passengers to and from Billund close to 600 000 per year. To celebrate this new route Ryanair is selling tickets on the route from 80 kr.
Edinburghis Scotland’s second largest city but the capital of Scotland. The city is famous for its architecture and its many festivals. With its large university the city has a lot to offer when it comes to eating and drinking with many eateries and pubs located in and around Grassmarket and Lothian road. The city is also an ideal starting point for trips to the rest of Scotlandno matter if it’s to play golf or drink whiskey. Edinburghis since 1991 a twin city to Aalborg.
Announcing the expansion today, Ryanair’s Manager Northern Europe; Wilhelm Hamiltonsaid:
“I’m delighted to offer the first low cost route from Jutland to Scotland. Edinburghis a fantastic destination being the cultural and political centre of Scotlandand with a fantastic nightlife. With fares as low as 80kr I urge all to go and find out what a Scotsman really has under the kilt.”
Airport Manager Jørgen Krab Jørgensen, BillundAirportwarmly welcomes the new route! With this new connection to Scotland, Ryanair will have 10 low cost routes to and from BillundAirport.
“I am sure that this new route to Edinburghwill be well received by the large number of passengers in West Denmark. There is a great demand for flights to Scotland, business as well as pleasure”.
Jørgen Krab Jørgensenhopes that the leisure and entertainment industry in Jutlandand on Funen will know how to benefit from the new possibilities of attracting even more British visitors to the region. He also hopes that West Danish traffic companies are aware of the continuously growing need for improvements in the public bus service to and from Billund in relation to the large number of foreign passengers arriving to the region via the international airport in Billund.
