Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline today (15th January) announced their ninth route from Billund. The new route is to Birmingham and will start on the 17th of June and the route will be trafficked three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The new route will mean an additional 40 000 passengers through Billund, Denmark’s fastest growing airport, bringing the total number of Ryanair passengers to and from Billund close to 550 000 per year. To celebrate this new route Ryanair is selling tickets on the route from 137kr*.
Birmingham is the UK’s second largest city famous for its shopping and two football teams Birmingham City FC (The Blues) and Aston Villa FC. The city is as well famous for being the center of the British canal system and has more kilometers of canals than even Venice. Visitors seeking a Willy Wonka experience can visit the Cadbury chocolate factory that offers guided tours and tasting.
Announcing the expansion today, Ryanair’s Manager Northern Europe; Wilhelm Hamilton said:
“I’m very pleased to once again announce a new route to Denmark’s fastest growing airport. Birmingham is a very interesting destination with great shopping and great football. With fares as low as 137 kr* the tickets will be flying off the shelves so I urge all to log on to www.ryanair.com for the lowest guaranteed fares.”
Airport Manager in Billund, Jørgen Krab Jørgensen, is convinced that this new possibility of cheap flights to Birmingham will be well received by the passengers. With this new route the Danish public will e.g. have great opportunities to enjoy concerts within all genres. He mentions Symphony Hall which is probably Europe’s best concert hall.
At the same time Birmingham is the gate to beautiful Wales with just a short driving distance from the airport to the Welsh border.
Jørgen Krab Jørgensen also believes that the new route will help boost the leisure and entertainment industry in Jutland and on Funen. Offers of cheap transport to Denmark are traditionally well received by the British.
